BY MEGAN BROWNELL, JOURNAL INTERN | | Ross Roark leads Top Secretina to her win in 2-year-old mares on November 16 at the World Show. |
Top Secretina placed first under three judges to win 2-year-old mares at the 2007 AQHA World Championship Show. Led by Ross Roark, “Tina” is owned by Gerri Leigh Pratt of Winston Salem, North Carolina. Gerri bought the Tina last year, and Ross said they plan to keep the mare. Tina was bred by Clark Rassi and is by the 2004 World Show 3-year-old stallion champion, The Top Secret, and out of RPL My Te Touching by Touchdown Kid. Tina won the yearling class at the 2006 World Show and Bayer Select, plus this year’s World Show amateur 2-year-old mares with Gerri showing. “I’m very fortunate to have an owner like Gerri Leigh with great horses,” Ross said. He described Tina as a good horse to be around. “She is very laid-back, low-key and not a problem,” Ross said. Ross said the 2-year-old mares class was tough. “There are a lot of good horses and good horsemen. You always have confidence in your horse going in there, but with five judges, you never know,” he said.
