At 2 years old, Cool Krymsun Lady proved she has a bright future ahead of her after Gil Galyean piloted the bay filly to the world championship in 2-year-old western pleasure November 14.
“Annie” has been at Gil’s farm since she was weaned. She started her career by winning a few longe line classes as a yearling and was broke in January and aimed at the All American Quarter Horse Congress Masters futurity for 2-year-olds.
“We just brought her along slowly and tried to peak her for the Congress and we were reserve there in the Masters,” Gil said. “She worked better here. She just couldn’t have worked any better than what she did here.”
Gil said Annie, who is owned by Heritage Farms and AQHA Pro Horseman Leslie Lange, will probably hit some of the major pleasure events as a 3-year-old next year, but will likely go on and become an all-around horse.
“She’ll do lots of events,” Gil said. “That’s the thing about the pleasure horses today. You see so many of them that go on to be western riders or trail horses.”
Gil said the filly’s natural movement and good attitude make her a pleasure to work with.
“She’s been such a natural mover that she hasn’t been one you’ve had to try and teach a lot, to teach her a way of going or a way of moving,” he said. “It’s just her natural gait. She’s just a wonderful horse to be around.
“We were at the Congress for two weeks, then you come here for a week and you’re with them every day and you’re doing stuff, some horses will get a little cranky and they’ll get tired of seeing you come around the stall door, but she’s been great about that the whole time.”
Gil said Annie is the softest horse he’s ever ridden.
“She’s a special, special horse,” he said. “I’m just lucky to be able to get to ride her.”
