 | | Shes Promiscuous and Rita Crundwell won the amateur yearling mares world championship. | Shes Promiscuous is following in her parents’ hoofsteps.
With owner and breeder Rita Crundwell at the lead, the spirited sorrel filly was named the amateur yearling mare world champion November 8. “She’s out of She Scores, and she’s by my stud, Mr Touchdown Kid,” Rita said. “I’ve shown both of her parents to world championships.” Mr Touchdown Kid was the 2000 amateur world champion yearling stallion. She Scores has seven world championships. “She’s one of my favorite horses,” Rita said of the 7-year-old mare who was retired after the 2005 AQHA World Championship Show. “This mare is a little spunkier than ‘Scores’ was, but I just think it’s because she’s still a baby. But she really looks a lot like Scores.” This is the first year that Scores’ offspring have been shown at a World Show. On November 7, Rita showed Shes Coolest, a half sister to Shes Promiscuous, in the amateur 2-year-old mares, placing fifth. As the horses were being lined up under the five judges in the yearling mares class, though, Rita wasn’t sure whether she and Shes Promiscuous had won. “I thought for sure I was second because Lea Ann (Koch-Bingham) had two firsts, but I’d lost track of what everyone else did with their other placings,” Rita said. “I thought for sure I was reserve, and when they called me out as champion, I was very surprised. Pleasantly surprised.” Shes Promiscuous will show again November 15 in open yearling mares with AQHA Professional Horseman Ross Roark. And if she’s anything like her mother, the filly has a good shot at taking home another gold trophy. “We can only hope,” Rita said with a smile.
