Clay Logan’s horse picked the right time to peak. On November 17 at the AQHA World Championship Show, the novice rope horse won the world championship in junior heeling, scoring a 224. “This horse actually showed at the NCHA Futurity as a 3-year-old with some friends I used to work for, Kobe and Paula Wood from Stephenville,” Clay said. “Paula called us and said this horse might end up being a really good horse for us to rope on, so we ended up buying the horse from Kobe and Paula. “Within a year, he has been outstanding, so we are really thrilled with him.” Replay Blue Boon is a 2002 bay roan by Duals Blue Boon and out of Susans Replay by Freckles Playboy. Jay Wadhams headed for Clay in the world championship run. “My horse was real good in the box and stood there real good,” Clay said. “The steer was one of the better steers that went tonight. He ran a little harder, and when he turned, we had plenty of momentum going to come around for a big stop, and my horse was right on tonight, I mean, outstanding. It was a thrill that he worked that good.” Clay enjoys the quality of AQHA open roping and won a reserve world championship in 2002. “We rope against everybody everywhere we go,” he said. “It’s the best of everybody most all the time at the horse shows, and we were very fortunate. There were a lot of great horses and a lot of great riders, and we were lucky enough to have our day.” With Clay’s wife, Colleen, behind him, the two rode their gelding on a victory lap with Clay guiding as Colleen tossed T-shirts. Clay said they hope to return next year. “That’s our goal.” Horse: Replay Blue Boon Pedigree: Duals Blue Boon x Susans Replay by Freckles Playboy Exhibitor: Clay Logan Owner: Clay and Colleen Logan, Granbury, Texas Breeder: Robin Klesges
