NOVEMBER 8-22, 2008 (dates tentative) Read below for a special recap of this past year's world show.
BY MEGHAN MACKEY, INTERNET MANAGER | | Peppers Paniolo turned in a solid run with C.R. Bradley to earn the world championship in junior tie-down roping. | O.L. "Buck" Daniel had three good horses entered in the junior tie-down roping. Two made the finals and on November 16, one became the world champion.C.R. Bradley rode Peppers Paniolo to win the gold trophy for the Okeechobee, Florida, owner. “It was a really good run,” C.R. said. “He was really quiet in the box and really listened to me. He runs really, really hard and he stops every time.” “C.R. likes him so much because he’s such a hard stopper,” C.R.’s wife, Rosie, said. Buck sent the 2002 red roan gelding to C.R. about a year ago. Since then they’ve topped the AQHA High Point rankings in junior tie-down, and racked up wins across the country. After a big win in Fort Worth, Texas, Rosie, gave Pepperoni a treat and started a regrettable habit. “He’s obnoxious!” she said. “I made the mistake, he won the Fort Worth Stock Show this year in the junior calf roping and I gave him a treat. And ever since then, he begs for treats and he will not give up until you give him a treat. So he can be obnoxious until he gets his treat, and then he’s good.” No doubt Pepperoni will get an extra treat for bringing home the world championship.
