Karen Hornick rode A Certain Vino to win at the 2007 AQHA World Championship Show in junior western pleasure. Trained by Karen and her husband, Ty, at Jamestown, Ohio, the 2003 brown gelding is owned by Lee Reeve of Garden City, Kansas. He was bred by Tim and Lou Petty of Ocala, Florida. “Loping - he just comes out every day loping,” Karen said about “Vino” being a pleasure to ride. “He’s the same every day. He’s fun to ride and has a great feel. “We’ve worked all year toward this,” she said. Vino is by Certain Potential and out of Dotevia by Zippo Jack Bar. Lee bought the gelding two years ago at the World Show. In 2005, Vino won the Reichert Celebration’s $250,000 Sports Medicine Challenge. “He’s a great horse and he’s had a great year,” Lee said. “This is a great culmination to the end of the year.” Lee said his family and the Hornicks like everything about Vino. “Of course we like it when he wins,” Lee said with a smile. Vino placed first under four of the five junior western pleasure judges at this year’s World Show. “We’ll keep showing him as long as he wants to perform,” Lee said.
