JUNIOR WORKING HUNTER

ON RECORD SCORES AGAIN IN JUNIOR WORKING HUNTERS.

BY MEGAN BROWNELL, JOURNAL INTERN

David Connors rides On Record, owned by The Kaplow Family of Chappaqua, New York,  through a winning run in junior working hunters.

On Record will go into AQHA’s records as the 2007 AQHA World Show champion in junior working hunter.

Ridden by David Connors of Colt Neck, New Jersey, the 2002 chestnut gelding is by Artful Move and out of One For The Record (TB) by Swift Solo (TB). Together, David and On Record placed first under all five judges.

Bred by Robyn Kaplow and owned by the Kaplow Family of Chappaqua, New York, On Record was also the 2006 green working hunter champion.

“We like that winning feeling!” Sue, Robyn’s mother said. “This is a family affair.”

Robyn chimed in, “This is so great to have a winning, bred-and-owned horse.”

On Record is known as “Bruce” at the barn, which happens to be the name of Robyn’s father.

“He (On Record) has been very sick this year, and we’re proud he made a great recovery. He’s a hardy horse,” Sue said.

Bruce’s dam is a five-time world champion, and his sire is also a multiple world champion.

“Robyn showed his dam and Bruce is her 10th foal, and one of her best,” Sue said.

The Kaplow family said Bruce is very consistent and has excellent form over fences. He has been training with David Connors and Bill Ellis at Four Winds Farms located at Colts Neck, New Jersey.

“David knows the horse and how to prepare him so preparations were easy for the World Show,” Sue said.

After some vacation time, Bruce will be ridden in hunter competitions in Florida. Then he’ll return to New York as a working hunter.

“We will celebrate – we are very proud of him,” Sue said.

At this year’s World Show, On Record placed 10th in amateur working hunter and fourth in amateur hunter hack with Robyn aboard. Robyn won amateur hunter under saddle riding Zips Splash Of Art. She will compete during FedEx Open week on Zips Splash Of Art in junior hunter under saddle and On Record in junior hunter hack.
