BY MEGAN BROWNELL, JOURNAL INTERN | | Trainer Luke Castle sets up Sashay This Way before winning weanling mares on November 15. | Sashay This Way calmly stepped up at the 2007 AQHA World Championship Show to win weanling mares.Led by AQHA Pro Horseman Luke Castle of Wayne, Oklahoma, Sashay This Way is by the 2003 open and amateur world champion 3-year-old stallion, Kid Clusified. “Bridgette” is out of Steppin To Dominate by Dominate Clu. Bridgette placed first under three of the five World Show judges. She was also named champion of the weanling fillies class at this year’s All American Quarter Horse Congress. Bridgette was bred by Kelli Jensen of Saginaw, Michigan, and is owned by Charles and Jeannie Pircher of Rio Medina, Texas. Luke said they plan to campaign the chestnut filly hard next year. “It’s quite exciting,” Luke said about Bridgette’s win. “These are new horses (in the weanling classes) and getting to throw them in there and sort them out is exciting. “I like her overall balance, conformation and structure to start with,” he said about Bridgette. “She has a lot of muscle but she’s balanced and made right.” Luke said he’s going to keep the filly with him, and she’ll be shown a lot next year. “She likes to go show. She’s been hauled a lot for a young one but she’s good-minded,” he said.
