November 6, 2005 -- Texas Chatterbox outran her 16-1 odds to win the November 5, $100,000 John Deere Distaff Challenge Championship at Los Alamitos. John Hamilton rode the homebred 4-year-old Vital Sign mare for owner William Orr Jr. of Sweeny, Texas, and trainer Paul Jones.

Covering 400 yards in :19.607, Texas Chatterbox earned her fifth victory in 12 starts and second stakes score. The mare is one of 15 stakes winners from 11 crops sired by Vital Sign, a graded stakes winning stallion by The Signature whose 207 starters have earned more than $2.6 million and include two-time Grade 1-winner Vital Time. The mare's dam, Silks Cindy, is a winning daughter of Silk Or Satin (TB) who has foaled five registered starters. Texas Chatterbox represents her lone stakes winner.

The $50,000 winner's share of the John Deere purse boosted Texas Chatterbox's bankroll to $90,147. The mare's stakes wins include the July 9 John Deere Texas Distaff Challenge (G3) at Sam Houston Race Park.

Texas Chatterbox's margin of victory was three-quarters of a length from 4-5 choice Mini Rock. None As Easy ran third and was followed by Vital Jewel, Tomorrows Headlines, Check The Account, Impeccable Timing, Sign Of Pride, Streakin Nanny and Raining Fresh Daisys.
