Jessica Tourino, 17, of Temecula, California, has a lot of activities to balance. She is a clothing designer, a singer and a competitive rider.
Jessica has always loved fashion, and she has always wanted to be a designer. She finally decided to go after her dream by creating her own clothing company, ‘Rtistik’.
“I’ve designed shirts all my life,” Jessica explained. “I just started Rtistik last summer.”
Jessica likes her clothing to be relaxed and affordable.
“All of my clothing is very casual,” Jessica explained. “I like to have a lot of design and print on the shirts.
“Right now I just have shirts for sale, but I am currently designing handbags and tennis shoes.”
Rtistic has clothing for guys and girls. Jessica is currently selling the clothes locally, and plans to get them into stores on a Web site as soon as possible.
Jessica likes to incorporate popular styles and trends into her clothing, but she wants each piece to be unique.
“I read a lot of polls and try to figure out what people like and what the current trends are,” Jessica said.
Aside from designing clothes, Jessica is also working on an album with John Allmond.
“I made a demo record a few years ago and sent it out. I signed with Nightfire Records and Studios,” Jessica said.
“John Allmond is the producer of the album, and he is doing a great job. He enjoys doing contemporary Christian music, and I like to do that as well,” Jessica said.
The album should have about 10 songs, and is very upbeat, but the vocal melody is blues.
“I really love blues, but it is so slow that it can be sad,” Jessica explained. “I wanted something that had depth but was also happy and positive.”
The album should be released by the end of the year.
“I will start performing locally, then my songs will be on the radio, and then the album will hit stores,” Jessica explained. “Hopefully it will be in every store imaginable.”
Jessica is competing in reining for the first time this year in the Ford AQHYA World Championship Show.
“I feel really blessed to be here,” she explained. “I love riding, I love designing and I love singing.
So whether she is at the barn, in the studio, or in her room designing clothes, Jessica is more that just a cowgirl.
