PICTURE PERFECT

GIRL'S LOVE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY AND HORSES HAS OPENED MANY DOORS.

BY LYNSEY MADISON, JUNIOR JOURNALIST

Taylor Singmaster posing with Jack Drove a Bentley aka "Bentley."

Why does Taylor Singmaster, 17, of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, enjoy photography and graphic design so much?

“Because everyone loves pictures”

Besides showing her 2002 bay gelding, Jack Drove a Bentley, aka “Bentley,” Taylor enjoys taking pictures and creating graphic designs for her friends. Taylor has been taking photos and practicing her design skills for about two years know. She has designed all of Maggie Fortune’s ads for The American Quarter Horse Journal. Taylor said the most rewarding part of the job is having people enjoy her work.

Despite her success, however, she said there are days when she just can’t get a shot right, but she recognizes that this is all part of learning.

Taylor said that she has found the best way to learn is to “just mess around with stuff”

Taylor uses a Nikon D70 digital camera for all of her photography and her favorite photos are the candid ones. She focuses most on photographing horses, but she enjoys taking pictures of everything.

“I really like to take pictures of my friends,” Taylor said.

In the future, Taylor hopes to attend the University of South Carolina to study graphic design more formally. After she graduates, she hopes to incorporate her passion for horses into her career as a graphic designer. However, if her plan to incorporate horses into her career does not work, she knows she will always have horses in her life one way or another.
