| Sara D'Imperio, of Italy, presenting countries flag in the parade of teams. |
Few of us may know where Borgomanero, Italy is, but to Sara D’Imperio, Borgomanero is home.
This is Sara’s first year showing at the Ford AQHYA World Championship Show, and she is having a blast.
Unlike her, the horse she is showing, No Mystery Im Good, calls Georgia home. She competed in showmanship and horsemanship on August 5th. Later in the week, she will be competing in trail, western riding and equitation.
Back in Italy, shows are obviously much smaller. Youth divisions have roughly only five to six competitors per show. This makes it very difficult to qualify horses for the Ford Youth World.
Sara said that shows are held once a month and are normally three days in length. Sara was also sure to point out that the judges are all flown over from the United States to judge their shows.
So what does Sara show back home you ask?
- reining
- youth all-around
- open all-around
However, according to Sara, showing at home is hard because her trainer, Michael Colvin, is not there to guide her through problems. Luckily though, this week he is readily available to help Sara and her horse through the show.
