| Morgan Field and Justine Lynch are the first AQHYA ranch sorting world champions. |
Morgan Field let out screams that could wake the dead during the ranch sorting, but she doesn’t care what people think because they get the job done. “It keeps the cows away,” she said.
That scream helped her and teammate Justine Lynch win AQHA’s first world championship title in ranch sorting Monday night at the Ford AQHYA World Championship Show.
Morgan, from Springtown, Texas, also placed sixth in the event with her brother Trent. Justine, from Grant Park, Illinois, placed third with her sister Whitney, but when the two friends paired up, not a cow dared to challenge them.
“It was hard,” Morgan said of the go.
“But the cows were pretty good in that run,” Justine added.
Morgan said it was a big help that she and Justine were second to go in the pen Monday night. The cows, particularly the cow marked number nine in the second set that had no reservations about taking on horses five times its size, got cranky as the rounds went on.
Morgan rode Bito Docs Silver Bar and Justine rode Genuine Heaven in their winning run.
This is the girls second year at the Ford Youth World. Last year, they teamed up with Whitney in their first Ford Youth World appearance to win the world championship buckles in team penning.
