BY LARRI JO STARKEY, COPY EDITOR | Drew Smith leads FSR Remarkable to the win in the 3-year-old geldings class at the 2007 Ford AQHYA World Championship Show. | For most of FSR Remarkable’s life, he has lived in Dewey, Oklahoma, with Drew Smith, and Drew has been helping his dad, Dewey, condition the sorrel gelding for halter.“His name is Jason, and he’s a 3-year-old gelding,” Drew said. “We got him from Jason Smith. We bought him as a weanling.” The 2004 gelding by A Remarkable Mr and out of Secured Doll by Sonnys Securitee helped Drew win his first American Quarter Horse championship at the 2007 AQHYA World Championship Show on August 11. Drew, a 10-year-old fifth-grader, likes Jason quite a bit. “I just like his personality,” Drew said. Drew, who has been showing halter horses for about four years, led Jason into the 3-year-old geldings class with 17 other entries, liking Jason’s chances. “I was a little nervous,” Drew admitted later. For his win, Drew will take home a gold-toned championship trophy, a Montana Silversmiths buckle and a slew of other prizes.
