Kennedy Moritz was a little shaky as she led Sassy N Cool out of the arena. She not only had the big 2-year-old mare in tow, she also had a lot to carry: a Professional Choice boots, a WeatherBeeta blanket, a Montana Silversmiths belt buckle and, best of all, a golden trophy.
Another reason for the shakiness … it was the first Ford Youth World championship for the 10-year-old Hanson, Kentucky, girl.
“It’s great,” Kennedy said. “I can’t believe it. She was so very good for me out there.”
Kennedy’s father and trainer, AQHA Pro Horseman Andrew Staton said they bought the mare in January from Dr. Steve Jensen of Saginaw, Michigan. He said Kennedy has worked really hard to get the chestnut mare ready for her first Youth World show.

Ten-year-old Kennedy Moritz of Hanson, Kentucky, won the 2-year-old
mares class with Sassy N Cool.
“She’s worked every day and has really given a full effort. I’m pretty proud of her,” Andy said, tears welling up in his eyes as he looked at his daughter.
Kennedy and Andy said they will most certainly be back next year to try again in the 3-year-old mares.
