Morgan Brehm dressed in a bright gold ensemble for her early-morning yearling geldings class, the same color as the trophy she hoped to win. She led Imprintation under the Gateway of Champions sign and confidently into the 2008 Ford AQHYA World Championship Show ring. At the end of an hour of showing, while Imprintation worked hard for Morgan, the exhibitors went to the rail to wait for word from the judges on their decision. That's when the 16-year-old Morgan got nervous.
Q. Tell us about your horse.
Morgan: He’s my aunt’s horse. She let me show him this year, so I’ve been showing him and doing really good with him. He goes out there and he just shows and puts his ears up, so it’s a lot of fun.
Q. Was the class stressful today?
Morgan: When they started announcing the placings it was, because it was getting closer and closer.
Q: What do you like about him?
Morgan: He’s really good-minded. Very friendly. Fun to love on.
Morgan Brehm leads Imprintation to a world championship.
Q: Is this your first trophy?
It’s the first trophy I’ve ever won. I’ve gotten world champion with a couple other of my halter horses. It’s very heavy.
Q: Where do you go to school?
Morgan: I go to Southwest in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Q: Is this your last year in youth?
Morgan: I have three more.
Q: How many more horses do you have to show?
I have an aged mare.
