Apollitical Pence, an 8-year-old son of world champion Apollitical Jess campaigned by Dunn Ranch and trained by Monty Arrossa, has been retired from racing.

One of only five multiple winners of the Grade 1, 440-yard Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos Racecourse, Apollitical Pence earned $1,867,319 from 41 starts in California, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, and he won 10 stakes, including the 2020 and '21 Champion of Champions, the 2022 Robert L. Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship (G1), and the 2022 and '23 Brad McKinzie Los Alamitos Winter Championship (G1).

Apollitical Pence made his last start in a 400-yard Brad McKinzie Winter Championship trial on January 28.

"He's a true blessing," Arrossa said. "He's here at Los Alamitos, but he is retired.

"He's done so much in his career," the trainer added. "He doesn't owe us anything."
