Stolin Train, a stakes-winning 7-year-old son of Desirio, is one of five horses entered in Sunday's 870-yard, $50,000-added AQHA Albuquerque Distance Challenge Stakes (G2) at Albuquerque Downs.
Stolin Train races for Goodrich Quarter Horses from the barn of trainer Scott Goodrich. The gelding has banked $27,745 from three starts this season, and he scored a wire-to-wire, half-length victory in the June 24, $46,000 AQHA Wyoming Distance Challenge Stakes at Wyoming Downs.
Stolin Train drew post 2 and will be ridden by Jesus Virgen.
Other contenders include Nove Racing LLC's Volcoms Favorite. A 4-year-old son of Jess Good Candy trained by James Gonzales III, the Oklahoma-bred gelding is coming off of a second-place finish in an 870-yard, $41,400 open-condition allowance race at Albuquerque Downs on September 8.
Volcoms Favorite drew post 4 and will be ridden by Gerardo Vera.
The winner of this race will earn a berth in the October 21 AQHA Distance Challenge Championship (G1) at Lone Star Park near Dallas.
