AQHA Incentive Races Pay Out More Than $43,000 at the 2022 Better Barrel Races World Finals

More than 600 competitors entered the American Quarter Horse Association side pots at the 2022 Better Barrel Races World Finals, April 19-24 in Oklahoma City. With $6,000 added in the AQHA open incentive race and $1,000 added in the AQHA futurity incentive race, more than $43,000 was paid out through the side pot.

Devin Young of Rosanky, Texas, won the first go of the 1D AQHA open race aboard Jettin To Docs Bar. The 2014 gelding, bred by Robert Glenn Walsh of West Point, Texas, is by Rosey Joe Doc and out of Jettin In Rosebuds by Rosebuds Boy Cody. They earned $1,167 with a 15.396-second run.

The winner of the second go of the 1D AQHA open race was Sharin Hall of Pilot Point, Texas, on Hello Stella. The 2017 bay mare, owned and bred by Hall, is by The Goodbye Lane and out of Go Go Fame by Dash Ta Fame. The team earned $1,167 for their 15.102-second run.

In the AQHA futurity race, the winner was Pete Oen of Maysville, Oklahoma, on Bapitized By Fire. The 2017 gelding, owned by Angela Richardson of Jackson, Louisiana, and bred by Busby QuarterHorse LLC of Millsap, Texas, is by Fire Water Flit and out of Lady Perks by Dash For Perks. Their win was good for $835.
