AQHA Pays out $60,000 in AQHA Side Pot at 2023 BBR World Finals
More than 600 AQHA members entered the AQHA side pots at the 2023 Better Barrel Races World Finals

The American Quarter Horse Association recently announced a new direct-qualifying method for barrel racers to the 2023 Farnam AQHA World Championship Show, and the first of those qualifiers have been awarded.
The top 10 1D American Quarter Horses at the 2023 Better Barrel Races World Finals, held April 25-30 in Oklahoma City, have been invited to compete at the 2023 Farnam AQHA World Championship Show in November in Oklahoma City. Invitations are for the junior or senior classes, which are based on the age of the horse at the time of qualification.

NNN Sixums Firewater, a 2014 palomino mare by Deep Sixum and out of Miss Doubtfire Flit, owned and ridden by Victoria Procter of Lampasas, Texas, and bred by Jeanette Nelson of Milledgeville, Georgia. Their time was 15.184.

Firewater Cartel, a 2015 bay stallion by Firewater Frost and out of DNA Awesome Chrystal, owned and ridden by Kylee Scribner of Azle, Texas, and bred by Leroy Pritchard of Springtown, Texas. Their time was 15.202.

Runnin With Wings, a 2016 sorrel gelding by JL Dash Ta Heaven and out of Nicki Nick Bar, owned and ridden by London Gorham of Cotulla, Texas, and bred by Jud Little of Ardmore, Oklahoma. Their time was 15.247.

Slick Talking Lady, a 2017 black mare by Slick By Design and out of LS Luck Be A Lady, owned by Aftermath Performance Horses, LLC of Greenville, Texas; ridden by DaCota Monk of Point, Texas; and bred by Kenton May of Gainesville, Texas. Their time was 15.272.

Zingzing Its Talent, a 2015 bay gelding by Prime Talent and out of Nick Bar Avenges, owned and ridden by Megan Swint of Dunnellon, Florida, and bred by Copper Spring Ranch of Tularosa, New Mexico. Their time was 14.307.

More than 600 AQHA members entered the AQHA side pots at the 2023 Better Barrel Races World Finals. With $8,000 added in the AQHA open incentive race, $2,000 added in the AQHA futurity incentive race and 75 percent paid back from entries, more than $60,000 was available to contestants.
