LJ Moonrise broke sharply from her rail post and led at every call to win Friday's $27,957 ARC Lone Star Distaff Challenge Stakes at Lone Star Park.

Prepped by Leon Bard for owner P & J Racing Ltd., LJ Moonrise went 400 yards in :20.042 while defeating Pamplonna by a clear 2 1/4 lengths. Francisco Calderon rode the 3-year-old black daughter of champion Separatist, who earned $13,419 and a berth in the October 26, $100,000 ARC Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) at Albuquerque Downs.

LJ Moonrise was bred in Texas by Elizabeth Vivanco. The filly was making her first official start since July 27, when she ran fourth in the 400-yard Retama Park Derby.

LJ Moonrise has won five of 11 races and has banked $151,014. The filly's resume includes a second-place run in last year's 350-yard TQHA Sale Futurity (RG3) at Retama Park.

Jess Adalida ran third, 2 3/4 lengths behind LJ Moonrise, and was followed by Saved By Jesus JM, Enid Girl, Alinas War Princess, Classy Seis, and YM Valentine.
