Runaway Second Down, a gray son of Sir Runaway Dash owned by Eulalio Argote and Victor Alvarado, is the 6-5 morning-line favorite for the second division of Saturday's 350-yard, $25,000 Billy Montgomery Stakes (R) for state-bred sophomores at Louisiana Downs.

Runaway Second Down is coming off of a nose victory as the 2-1 favorite in the 350-yard, $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes (RG2) at Fair Grounds Racecourse on December 14. All told, the gelding has won four of eight starts, including two graded stakes, and he has earned $413,526.

Runaway Second Down drew post 5 and will be ridden by Raul Ramirez Jr. for trainer Robi Meche.

The first division of the Billy Montgomery Stakes is headed by Ms Diamond Prize, a Fast Prize Jordan filly trained by Pedro Lopez for owner Jesus Huitron Lira and the 5-2 morning-line favorite. Ms Diamond Prize has earned $55,893 from 10 outs -- all in Louisiana -- and she is coming off of a second-place finish to Runaway Second Down in the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile.

Ms Diamond Prize drew the rail post and will be ridden by David Alvarez.
