Jeriko, a homebred 4-year-old One Famous Eagle gelding racing for Bobby D. Cox, heads a field of 10 aged runners entered back in Sunday's 400-yard, $135,400 Brad McKinzie Los Alamitos Winter Championship (G1).

The fastest qualifier, Jeriko opened his 2024 campaign with a neck victory in the second of two trials on January 28. The gelding has won eight of 13 starts and has earned $867,179 while racing in California and New Mexico, and his sophomore season included a half-length victory in the 400-yard, $903,650 Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1), a win that earned Jeriko a berth in the Champion of Champions.

Jeriko drew the rail post and will be ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo for trainer Heath Taylor.

Trainer Monty Arrossa will send out two contenders, Grade 1 winners Take A Swig Of This and Scoops Dynasty. A homebred 5-year-old son of champion FDD Dynasty and the second-fastest qualifier, Scoops Dynasty races for Edward and Von Zae McNelis. The Idaho-bred gelding is coming off of a 4-year-old year during which he banked $132,593 from eight races and won the Grade 1, 400-yard Go Man Go Stakes.

Scoops Dynasty drew post 3 and will be ridden by Jesus Rios Ayala.

Take A Swig Of This races for Dunn Ranch. A 4-year-old A Revenant gelding and a $40,000 purchase at the 2021 Heritage Place Yearling Sale, Take A Swig Of This won two graded stakes last season -- the 400-yard, $183,350 Los Alamitos Winter Derby (G1), and the 400-yard, $268,750 Heritage Place Derby (G2).

Take A Swig Of This drew post 2 and will be ridden by Eduardo Nicasio.
