On September 26, the Jockey Club de Sorocaba hosted several stakes, including the $90,000R (approximately $16,600US) Grande Prêmio Presidente Do Jockey Club De Sorocaba Derby and $90,000R Grande Prêmio São Paulo, the first leg of the Triple Crown.
In the 440-yard Grande Prêmio Presidente Do Jockey Club De Sorocaba Derby, Monaco Roses MRL captured the win, with Brazilian champion Yoyo Verde second. Monaco Roses MRL was ridden by A. Andrade for trainer M.O. Artemam and owner/breeder Haras Portofino.
Ten Ten Gold ZO was third, followed by Noticia Lake HWS in fourth.
Monaco Roses MRL is by Corona For Me and out of the Mr Eye Opener mare Gather The Roses.
In the 330-yard Grande Prêmio São Paulo, Atau JQM captured the win. Ridden by J.D. Pereira for trainer M. Artemam and owner Haras J Name.
Second was Great Reason MV, followed by Eurico For Me JQM, Fahrenheit For Me, Granite Wish and Only For Me PK.
Atau JQM was bred by Haras Jaguaruana and is by No Secrets Here and out of the Corona Cartel mare Corona Bikini.
