Canterbury Park’s 2022 mixed meet will feature 15 quarter horse stakes, topped by the 35th running of the 350-yard, $100,000-est. Mystic Lake Northlands Futurity on August 10.

Canterbury Park's first Quarter Horse race of the season is scheduled for June 1. Quarter Horse racing will be conducted on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the 65-day meet, which starts May 18.

The 400-yard, $100,000-est. Canterbury Park Derby is also scheduled for August 10. Overnight purses will remain similar to 2021 when purses for both open races and races restricted to Minnesota-breds in all categories were increased to record levels. Last season the average purse per quarter horse race was $22,630.

A pair of Grade 3 stakes -- the 440-yard, $50,000-added Bank of America Canterbury Championship Challenge (G3), and the 400-yard, $30,000-added AQHA Canterbury Distaff Challenge (G3) -- will be run on July 14. Champion Danjer has won the last two runnings of the Bank of America Canterbury Championship Challenge. The 870-yard, $20,000 AQHA Canterbury Distance Challenge is also slated for July 14.

Six of Canterbury Park's Quarter Horse stakes will be restricted to Minnesota- breds, starting with the $25,000-added North Star State Futurity (R) on June 1. Both the Minnesota Futurity (R) and Minnesota Derby (R) purses were increased to $60,000 and will be run on September 10.

Initial nomination payments for the Mystic Lake Northlands Futurity and Canterbury Park Derby are due by March 1. Click here for Canterbury Park's complete Quarter Horse stakes schedule. The first condition book and stall application, due April 4, will be available later this month.
