Covered Bridges Stakes Preview

Six distance specialists are entered in Saturday's 870-yard, $35,000 Covered Bridges Stakes (G3) at Prairie Meadows.

Two Covered Bridges contenders -- Nancy McCoy's NSM Buddy and Jane and Jim Leatherberry's RNC Cardshark Jones -- bring two-race win streaks into the race. A homebred 4-year-old son of champion Jess Louisiana Blue trained by Charley Hunt, NSM Buddy is coming off of a 1 3/4-length victory in an 870-yard optional claiming race at Prairie Meadows on August 30.

NSM Buddy drew post 3 and will be ridden by Stormy Smith.

RNC Cardshark Jones has won five of his 13 races at the 870 distance, including a $17,500 open-condition allowance race at Prairie Meadows on August 30, and last year's Covered Bridges Stakes. Robert Johnson trains the 6-year-old son of the Special Leader stallion The Card Shark 229.

RNC Cardshark Jones drew post 5 and will be ridden by Ramiro Garcia.
