Streaks Of Power, a daughter of the Concord Point (TB) stallion Power Jam (TB) leased by Robert Tyburski, streaked to a 1 1/4-length victory in Sunday's $26,180 Cox Ranch Los Alamitos Distaff Challenge Stakes for fillies and mares at Los Alamitos Racecourse.

Ridden by Armando Cervantes for trainer Monty Arrossa, Streaks Of Power went 400 yards in :19.961. The 4-year-old mare scored her first career stakes win and a berth in the October 26 Cox Ranch Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) at Albuquerque Downs.

Streaks Of Power was making the second start of her 2024 season; she began her campaign with a three-quarter length victory in a 300-yard, $13,500 non-winners-of-three allowance dash at Los Alamitos on July 14. The mare was bred in Louisiana and is owned by Ken O'Brien, and she is out of Streaks Of Ivory, a stakes-winning 9-year-old Ivory James mare.

“She didn’t break like she normally does,” O’Brien said of Streaks Of Power's trip on Sunday. “She went out quite a few lengths which made us a little bit nervous. I think Armando was more concerned in making sure that they weren’t around anyone else, and he just let her go."

Streaks Of Power was winning for the fourth time in eight races and increasing her lifetime bankroll to $83,705. The mare was a finalist in last year's 400-yard Los Alamitos Oaks (G1) and 440-yard All American Oaks (G1).
