Curls Happy Wagon led at every call en route to a one-length victory in the $63,750 Decketta Stakes (G3) for distaffers at Remington Park on Saturday.

A homebred 4-year-old PYC Paint Your Wagon mare campaigned by Michael A. Pohl and Martin Stacy, Curls Happy Wagon covered 350 yards in :17.392 while aided by a 5-mph tail wind. Jorge Torres rode Curls Happy Wagon for trainer Stacy Charette-Hill.

Curls Happy Wagon was making her first start since November 10, when the mare finished second, a head behind winner and champion Hotstepper, in the 440-yard, $376,000 Texas Classic Derby (G1) at Lone Star Park. The filly was bred in Oklahoma, and she is out of Eye A Spit Curl Girl, a homebred multiple graded stakes winning 9-year-old Spit Curl Jess mare.

Curls Happy Wagon has won five of nine starts, and the $37,926 winner’s share of the purse from her first stakes victory increased her earnings to $154,089.

First Of 15 finished second and was followed by Trace Dynasty, DF AJ Green Leaves, PV Queen Bee Candy, Double Eagle, Wagon Chick V, Eye Eye Captain, Weetonas Lafawn, Hardtoget, and Hazel Dazel.
