RACE RECORD: The sport’s reigning champion 2-year-old and 2-year-old filly, Flash And Roll last year qualified to the Ruidoso Futurity (G1), then won the Golden State Million (G1) and Los Alamitos Two Million (G1). She qualified to the All American Derby by romping by 2 ¼ lengths in Trial 10 and posting the eighth-fastest qualifying time. 

BREEDER: From a boutique breeding program based in Blanco, Texas, Julianna Hawn Holt breeds top runners, with 180 starters earning more than $9.3 million.

Among them are 2017 All American Futurity (G1) winner and All American Derby (G1) runner up Fly Baby Fly, as well as Valiant Hero, sire of Derby qualifier Valiant Tiberias. 

OWNER: Scott Bryant has owned several successful horses in partnership, including First Valiant Sign ($1,053,844), but Flash And Roll is by far the most successful on his own. She was a $200,000 purchase at the 2017 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. 

TRAINER: One of the sport’s all-time leading trainers by money earned, Mike Joiner has handled many good horses. He has saddled the earners of more than $24.4 million, with more than 780 winners since 1991. Among his runners are champions Kates Dynasty, FDD Dynasty, A Revenant, Brimmerton and First Klas Fred. In 2015, he won the 2004 All American Derby (G1) with Brimmerton.

QUALIFYING JOCKEY: Last year, Raul Ramirez Jr. guided Apocalyptical Jess to win the All American Futurity. Since 1989, the jockey has ridden 1,394 winners from 10,390 starters and the earners of more than $22.8 million. Other top runners include the likes of JLS Dasn And Zoomn ($514,345), Jess A Saint ($504,086), Ivan James ($463,647) and Blue Corazon ($420,400). 

PEDIGREE: The late First Moonflash was a top racehorse, earning $969,828 and a championship title, as well as five track records and four world records. He was also a top sire, with seven crops to race earning more than $16.6 million. They include All American Futurity winner Handsome Jack Flash and All American Derby winner Too Flash For You. 

Dam Stylish Jess BR is herself a champion, and has produced four winners from seven starters.
