Fabian Muniz Porras' Karmalites won Saturday's 350-yard, $214,876 Four Corners Futurity (G3) at SunRay Park.
The fifth-fastest qualifier, Karmalites defeated fourth-fastest qualifier Conflict by a neck in :17.197 while recording a 101 speed index. Emilio Tapia rode the sorrel daughter of the One Famous Eagle stallion The Marfa Lights for trainer David Gomez-Barraza.
Karmalites was bred in Oklahoma by Paris Wixon, and the filly was a $12,000 buy at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. The filly is out of Cartel Carma, a winning daughter of the Holland Ease stallion Corona Cartel.
Karmalites made her local debut with a half-length victory in one of six Four Corners Futurity trials on May 3. Campaigned exclusively in New Mexico, the filly has won two of five races, and the $100,992 winner's share of the purse from her first stakes score bumped her earnings to $109,122.
Fastest qualifier Famous Flyin Cowgirl fell halfway through the race and lost her rider.
