Francisco Calderon reached the 500-win milestone on Friday when he rode Total Texas to victory in Friday's fourth race at Retama Park near San Antonio, Texas.
A native of San Antonio, Calderon has won 500 races from 2,906 mounts, and his mounts have earned $6,454,816 since 2011. His best season to date was 2017, when he won 82 races from 390 mounts and his mounts collected $1,563,063 in purse earnings. That year, he won the $483,600 Sam Houston Futurity (G2) aboard This An Eagle, a son of One Famous Eagle trained by Leon Bard for owner Mary G. Thompson.
Calderon's other major wins include the 2016 Sam Houston Futurity (G1) with Joel Tipton's Just Call Me Carter.
