Sent to post as the 2-1 favorite in a field of seven distance specialists, Illtakeyouforaride held on at the wire to win Sunday's $50,000 Herman Jefferson Stakes (G3) at Zia Park.

Illtakeyouforaride went 870 yards in :46.308 under jockey Kelsi Purcell, and his margin of victory was a neck from 10-1 longshot Spit Prize Corona. Mike Joiner saddled the 5-year-old son of champion Fdd Dynasty for the Illtakeyouforaride Partnership.

Illtakeyouforaride was coming off of a Ruidoso Downs summer campaign during which he won the August 31, 870-yard Bill Reed Memorial Stakes. The gelding was bred in Oklahoma by Kirk M. Goodfellow, and the Herman Jefferson marked his second career stakes win.

Illtakeyouforaride has won five of 19 outs, including four of seven at the 870 trip, and the $29,700 winner's share of the purse increased his earnings to $91,970.

Mahoney N Tacklebery, Zoomin Racer, J Boy A, D E Wagons Strawfly, and Sin Tachas First completed the order of finish.
