Flying Famous Eagle, a 24-1 longshot, broke his maiden in Sunday's 400-yard, $229,160 Hobbs America Futurity (G2) at Zia Park.

Ridden by Jaime Leos, Flying Famous Eagle defeated Sacred Nation by a head in :19.734 against a reported 6-mph head wind. Mario Fernandez saddled the sorrel One Famous Eagle gelding for owner Sergio Hermosillo.

Flying Famous Eagle was bred in Texas by Johnny Trotter. A $51,000 purchase at last year's Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, the gelding is out of This Dreams Flying, a winning daughter of Strawfly Special. His second dam, the Dash For Cash mare Dashing Phoebe, won the 1985 Sun Country (G1) and Kansas (G1) futurities and was a finalist in the All American Futurity.

Raced in New Mexico and Oklahoma, Flying Famous Eagle has won one of five outs and has banked $111,937.

Mi Apollitical Jess, Apollitical Papa, Cers Final Try, Eyesa Forrest, Portfolioh, Political Mayhem, and Apollitical B Brioso completed the order of finish.
