Trials for the Miss Roxie Little Futurity (RG3) for Indiana-bred 2-year-olds and Governor’s Stakes for open juveniles dominate Saturday’s 11-race all-Quarter Horse program at Horseshoe Indianapolis.
Post time for the first race is set for 10:45 a.m. (EDT).
Fifty-four state-bred 2-year-olds are entered in six 350-yard Miss Roxie Little Futurity trials. AP Political Patriot, an undefeated homebred son of EOS A Political Win owned and trained by Oscar Preciado, is coming off of a half-length victory in the 350-yard, $212,000 QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Futurity (RG3) on August 31. The sorrel gelding has won both of his outs and has earned $90,450.
AP Political Patriot drew post 3 and will be ridden by Francisco Quintero in the first trial.
Campos Family Ventures’ Zoomin Feature will be making his first start since July 20, when the homebred son of Jess Zoomin scored a half-length victory at odds of 14-1 in the 350-yard, $194,000 Gordon Mobley Futurity (R). Claudio Barraza trains the brown gelding.
Zoomin Feature drew post 3 and will be ridden by Edgar Diaz in the sixth heat.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the October 26, $150,000-added Miss Roxie Little Futurity final.
Saturday’s Governor’s Stakes trials have attracted 28 juveniles in three 350-yard heats.
Caughtmeatagoodtime, a homebred stakes-winning son of Lota PYC racing for Whiting Ranch, drew post 5 and will be ridden by Fernando Morin for trainer Ricardo Martinez in the second trial. Caughtmeatagoodtime has earned $107,621 from five starts in Indiana and Texas, and his three wins include a head victory in the 300-yard, $169,000 Heartland Futurity at Horseshoe Indianapolis on July 20.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $125,000-added Governor’s Stakes final on October 26.
