HS Paul Walker Draws Post 8 for Shue Fly

HS Paul Walker, a homebred Osbaldo gelding and the fastest qualifier, drew post 8 for Saturday’s 400-yard, $211,142 Shue Fly Stakes (RG2) for New Mexico-bred 3-year-olds at Sunland Park.

Trained by Alvaro Hinojos for owner Fernando Solis Grajeda, HS Paul Walker made his sophomore season debut with a neck victory in the second of five Shue Fly trials on January 4. The gelding has earned $99,300 from 10 starts, all in New Mexico, and his record includes a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Woodys Copy Cat, in the 400-yard, $315,000 New Mexico Cup Futurity (RG2) at Zia Park on November 4.

Alonso Rivera has been named to ride HS Paul Walker.

Enrique Barrera’s Woodys Copy Cat has won his last four outs, including the New Mexico Cup Futurity. The brown daughter of Woodbridge drew post 6 and will be ridden by Manuel Gutierrez for trainer Cynthia Gonzalez.
