As the 2024 racing season winds down, Horseshoe Indianapolis Racing & Casino will move post times up one hour for the final week of racing. A new post time of 1:10 p.m. will be implemented for racing Monday, November 11, through Thursday, November 14, which is the final day of the 124-day season in 2024.
“With the time change and shorter daylight times, we wanted to capitalize on the daylight as much as we can for the final week of racing,” said Eric Halstrom, Vice President and General Manager. “By moving our post times up to 1:10 p.m., we will be able to accommodate more races as well as utilize our turf course as much as we can to close out the 2024 racing season.”
A special Veterans Day racing program is set for Monday, November 11 featuring 11 races. Two turf races will be planned out of the first five races and before track lighting is implemented for the later portion of the card. Each of the races Monday is named in honor of a Veteran with ties to racing, plus racing guests will enjoy the $2,500 Veterans Day Legends handicapping contest, courtesy of Indiana Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association along with a special Late Fire Pick 5 Challenge, where 14 nationally known handicappers will place $500 into the wager with all proceeds going directly to Hoosier Veterans and Families, Inc. of Indiana (HVAF).
“Our Veterans Day program has grown over the past few years and moving our post time up an hour will only enhance the afternoon’s racing card,” added Halstrom. “Supporting and raising funding for such a worthy organization as HVAF and honoring those who have served our country makes the day really special.”
The 22nd season of live Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing extends through Thursday, Nov. 14. Racing is held at 1:10 p.m. Monday through Thursday during the final week.
