Leann J. Burns' Relentless Cowboy broke his maiden in Saturday's 350-yard, $179,860 Iowa Double Gold Futurity (R) at Prairie Meadows.

Ridden by Edwuin Lujan and sent to post at odds of 22-1, Relentless Cowboy defeated odds-on favorite Five Bar Bodee by a neck in :17.653. Randy Hill prepped the brown son of Hes Relentless, who scored his first win in four outs.

Relentless Cowboy was bred in Oklahoma by Larry J. Kist. The gelding is out of R Diva, a winning 8-year-old daughter of the Corona Cartel stallion Furyofthewind.

The $80,937 winner's share of the Iowa Double Gold Futurity purse increased Relentless Cowboy's bankroll to $88,504.

Southard Queen finished third and was followed by Karona, Relentless Jessie, Fly Relentless Fly, Political Candyhouse, Special Candy Kisses, and Sunset La Jolla.
