Jerry Stojan's Professor Gee on Sunday recorded the fastest qualifying time to the July 31, $30,000-added John Deere Evergreen Juvenile Challenge Stakes at Evergreen Park.

Ridden by Ricardo Moreno for trainer William Leech, Professor Gee won the first of two 350-yard trials by two lengths in :18.418. The California-bred son of the Walk Thru Fire stallion Fly Thru The Fire earned his second win in three starts and increased his bankroll to $5,796.

Professor Gee was bred by Ed Allred, and he was purchased by Stojan for $11,000 at last year's Los Alamitos Equine Sale. The gelding is out of Bemused, a stakes-winning 11-year-old daughter of champion Separatist.
