Los Alamitos-based Trident IOT is the morning line choice in Saturday’s $140,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2), part of a blockbuster card for the AQHA Racing Challenge Championships at The Downs at Albuquerque.
A Utah-bred gelding by KVN Corona, Trident IOT has run first or second in five of his six starts, including a victory in the $53,856 John Deere Los Alamitos Juvenile Challenge on August 9. His only off-the-board finish was a sixth-place effort in the $275,800 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity (G2). Owned by Keith Nellesen and bred by McColee Land & Livestock LLC, Trident IOT drew post 2 with Jacob Enriquez set to ride for trainer Clint Crawford.
The second choice on the morning line, Full Moon Desire, will break next to the favorite in post 3 with Nestor Duran up for trainer Heber Deyta-Melendez. The Chilitos filly, who is owned by Leviram Racing LLC, earned her spot in this race with a 1 ¼-length victory in the $121,082 John Deere Sam Houston Juvenile Challenge (G3) in May.
Kenneth Durbin’s homebred Kowboy Boogie comes in after two impressive wins in Oklahoma, including the $77,979 John Deere Will Rogers Downs Juvenile Challenge. The Flying Cowboy 123 colt is trained by Carrol Durbin and will come out of post 8 under Bryan Candanosa.
