Brown Coffeee, a Grade 1-placed son of Good Reason SA, and graded stakes winner Favorite Jesshawk are two of the 23 3-year-olds entered in Saturday's Los Alamitos Winter Derby (G1) trials at Los Alamitos Racecourse.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from the three 400-yard trials will meet in the $175,350 Los Alamitos Winter Derby final on February 15.

Brown Coffeee will make his season debut off of a second-place finish as the fastest qualifier, a neck behind winner Lethal Cowboy 123, in California's richest horse race, the December 15, $1,805,950 Los Alamitos Two-Million Futurity (G1). Heath Taylor trains the California-bred gelding for owners Monte Cluck, Katsy Cluck, and Ross Roark.

Brown Coffeee drew post 2 and will be ridden by Jose Nicasio in the first heat.

Favorite Jesshawk is a homebred son of the Favorite Cartel stallion A Mere Felix trained by Jesus Nunez for owner EG High Desert Farm. The chestnut colt is coming off of a juvenile campaign during which he earned $216,861 from nine races in California and scored a three-quarter length victory in the 350-yard, $270,000 Governor's Cup Futurity (RG1) in July.

Favorite Jesshawk drew post 3 and will be ridden by Ricardo Ramirez in the first trial.
