Flashtoglory, a homebred daughter of champion First Moonflash owned and trained by David Meridyth, opened her 5-year-old campaign with a half-length victory in Sunday's $90,000 Lou Wooten/Sydney Valentini Stakes (RG2) for New Mexico-bred fillies and mares at Sunland Park.

Sent to post as the 11-10 favorite in the full field of 10 state-bred distaffers, Flashtoglory covered 400 yards in :19.447. Christian Ramos rode the black mare.

Flashtoglory was coming off of a three-quarter length win in the December 15, 400-yard New Mexico Filly and Mare Championship (RG1) at Zia Park. The mare is out of JP Glory Be, a winning Arkansas-bred Feature Mr Jess mare. Flashtoglory's second dam, the stakes-winning Texigo Star mare Dash To Glory, ran second in champion Kool Kue Baby's 1995 Sam Houston Classic Stakes (G2) at Sam Houston Race Park.

Flashtoglory was winning for the sixth time in 22 races, and the $54,000 winner's share of the purse from her second career stakes victory increased her earnings to $360,942.
