Flashtoglory and Maka Roon, a pair of mares who ended their 2024 campaigns with stakes wins, will make their 5-year-old season debuts in Saturday's 400-yard, $90,000 Lou Wooten/Sydney Valentini Stakes (RG2) for New Mexico-bred distaffers at Sunland Park.

A homebred daughter of champion First Moonflash owned and trained by David Meridyth, Flashtoglory is coming off of a three-quarter length victory in the 400-yard, $200,000 New Mexico Filly & Mare Championship (RG1) at Zia Park on December 15. Flashtoglory earned $175,260 from five outs last year.

Flashtoglory drew post 4 and will be ridden by Christian Ramos.

Maka Roon will be stretching out in distance off of her wire-to-wire, half-length win in the December 15, 350-yard New Mexico Classics Distaff Championship (R) at Zia Park. Julian Honesto trains the gray daughter of Eye Am King for owner Christian A. Dominguez-Olivas.

Maka Roon drew post 6 and will be ridden by Jesse Levario.
