Into The Grey, a 4-year-old son of the First Down Dash stallion Sir Runaway Dash racing for Rogelio Marquez Jr. and a 13-1 longshot, earned his first stakes victory in Saturday's 440-yard, $75,000 Louisiana Classic Stakes (RG2) for aged state-bred runners at Delta Downs.

Prepped by Jeremy Derozin and ridden by Ubaldo Luna, Into The Grey stopped the timer in :21.798 on a muddy and sealed track, and his winning margin was one length from 14-1 longshot Mr Crawfish. The gray gelding earned a 99 speed index while banking the $45,000 winner's share of the purse.

Into The Grey was bred by Phatt Kat Ranch. The gelding is out of Sass That Chick, an unraced New Mexico-bred Chicks A Blazin mare. His second dam, the Corona Cartel mare Sassy Smith, won two Grade 1 futurities in California in 2001.

Into The Grey has won five of 23 races -- including three of five at the classic quarter-mile distance -- and he has banked $169,590.

Moonin Rusty, the 9-5 favorite in the nine-horse field, finished fourth, 1 1/4 lengths behind Into The Grey.
