Apollitical Blood gelding tops the qualifiers to the December 7, $1-million final.

Special Politico, a sorrel son of Apollitical Blood owned by Oddel Batista, is the fastest qualifier to the December 7, $1-million LQHBA Million Futurity (RG1) for Louisiana-bred 2-year-olds.

Racing in the seventh of 14 trials at Evangeline Downs on Friday, Special Politico defeated fourth-fastest qualifier Ed O by one length in :19.475 for 400 yards. Luis Vivanco rode the gelding for trainer Miguel Rodriguez.

Special Politico was bred by Jim and Natalie Montgomery. The gelding has won three of five starts and has banked $40,920. His dam, Sweetness Special, is a winning and graded stakes placed 11-year-old daughter of Eyesa Special.

Lifeinthefastlanes set the second-fastest qualifying time with her 2 1/4-length victory in the eighth heat.  Trained by Kenneth Roberts Sr. for owners Jason Richards and Michael J. LeBlanc, the brown daughter of Jess Louisiana Blue stopped the timer in :19.517 for her second win in three outs. David Alvarez rode the filly.

Lifeinthefastlanes was bred by Wade and Kay Loup. The filly has won two of three starts and has earned $47,193, and her resume includes a third-place finish in the May 17, 330-yard Louisiana Breeders' Lassie Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs.
