A full field of 10 Texas-bred fillies and mares has been entered in Friday’s 330-yard, $25,000 Miss Sam Houston Stakes (R) at Sam Houston Race Park.

Juan M. Lozano Jr.’s Mystical Jess, a 4-year-old daughter of world champion Apollitical Jess trained by Josue Ponce, drew post 3 and will be ridden by Jesse Levario. Mystical Jess has earned $44,488 from 16 starts, and the mare’s stakes resume includes second-place finishes in last year’s 400-yard, $46,000 AQHA Retama Derby Challenge Stakes and 400-yard, $39,000 AQHA Lone Star Distaff Challenge Stakes.
