The American Quarter Horse Association promoted AQHA Director of Information Technology David Steinman of Amarillo to the position of chief information officer. He began his new role on April 25.

As the AQHA chief information officer, Steinman will plan, direct, coordinate and oversee activities in the IT and Project Management Office departments, ensuring the development and implementation of modern and efficient information technology, software and infrastructure to meet current needs and future goals of the Association. This includes the streamlining of business operations and delivery of services to the Association’s members worldwide.

“The AQHA leadership team is excited for David to bring his skills and knowledge to this new role,” said Chad Pierce, interim executive vice president. “David is a dynamic, versatile, hands-on leader who meets challenges by developing and leading teams to design and implement emerging technology solutions aligning with business strategies, which makes him a great fit for this position.”

Steinman joined the AQHA team as the Association’s director of application development and was promoted to director of information technology. In this position, he worked with the AQHA chief strategy officer to develop and execute short-term and long-term strategies for business operations as they relate to AQHA. He also planned, developed and assisted the AQHA Project Management Office with program management, operational and technical, for both internal- and external-facing customers and vendors.

“I am grateful for this opportunity to expand my role with the largest equine breed registry in the world,” said Steinman. “It is an honor to contribute my skills and knowledge to this role and dynamic team to support AQHA members and their American Quarter Horses. My goal in this new position is to continue to ensure the right technology is in place to lead AQHA into the future, while serving our customers with the highest level of satisfaction.”

Steinman’s resume also includes being the information (business) technology manager at Kenan Advantage Group; information technology manager at Jack B. Kelly Inc.; and network/system administrator at Golden Spread Energy.

Steinman earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln; a bachelor’s degree in business administration at West Texas A&M University; and master’s in business administration at the University of Utah.
