Tungsten Racing Partnership’s Eye Im Flashin dominated his rivals in the last 100 yards to gain the fastest qualifying time to the $350,000-est. New Mexico Classic Futurity (RG2) at Zia Park.

The New Mexico Classic Futurity is for New Mexico-breds at 350 yards.

Eye Im Flashin broke in and bumped Big Al at the start of their trial and then Eye Im Flashin quickly moved into contention. The last half of the race is where Eye Im Flashin made his move. The gelding easily pulled away to the 1 1/4 length win in a fast :17.096.

The impressive win puts Eye Im Flashin in a good position to gain his first stakes win.

The trial was his third win from eight starts; it goes with a close second-place run in the $351,484 Mountain Top Futurity (G2) at Ruidoso Downs. In that 350-yard stakes he showed his closing kick only to come out on the losing end of a head-bobbing finish and was second by a nose. He won his maiden with a neck win in his Mountain Top Futurity trial at 47-1 odds.

Eye Im Flashin also used his closing kick to easily win a $37,000 allowance race by 1 1/4 lengths at The Downs at Albuquerque on September 1.

The young 8-year-old First Moonflash mare Startedwithawhisper should have an excellent future as a broodmare with Eye Im Flashin being her second foal of racing age.Her other starter, King On The Moon, is also a winner.

Second dam Posies Woodette thrived on the track. She won the New Mexico Breeders’ Championship (RG2) and was second in the New Mexico State Fair Breeders’ Derby (R). In the New Mexico Breeders’ Championship, Posies Woodette was a 3-year-old filly going against older horses, including New Mexico stalwart Miracle Snow. She went to the lead and cruised to a one-half length win.

A daughter of Woodbridge, Posies Woodette also has stepped up as a broodmare. She produced three-time stakes winner Namacita Cartel, who included the New Mexico Fillies and Mares Championship (RG1) among her wins. Posies Woodette is also the dam of New Mexico Horse Breeders Association Stakes (RG2) winner Big Posies Cartel.

Third dam Posies, a daughter of Calyx, displayed her stakes class with a third-place finish in the PCQHRA Breeders’ Futurity (G2). She was fractious in that race and yet was still able to finish third, beaten by one-half length and a nose.

In addition to Posies Woodette, Posies produced New Mexico State Fair Senorita Futurity (RG3) winner Posies Desiria.

Eye Im Flashin’s closing charge has provided a competitive advantage. If he continues his late charge he could be dangerous in future stakes races.
