The South American country of Bolivia this weekend welcomes American Quarter Horse racing as it opens the Haras Olimpo Racetrack in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
The new racetrack was built by enthusiast German Eduardo Vieira Morales from Haras Olimpo with assistance from other leading horseman such as Dr. Ricardo Muradas.
The track will open with its own Campeon de los Campeones race.
While the opening weekend races at Haras Olimpo Racetrack are not AQHA approved, the association is working closely with all of the South American affiliates to further Quarter Horse racing and to further opportunity and race approval in the region.
“I am very proud of this achievement of the Bolivian breeders and horsemen,” says John Andreini Special Achievement Award winner and Brazilian Mauro Eli Zaborowsky. “We sincerely hope that our Bolivian friends will have a wonderful (opening) weekend … which will undoubtedly be a milestone for the Quarter Horse Races in Bolivia, South America, and the world.”
