Beyond Repair, a gelded son of the Walk Thru Fire stallion Fly Thru The Fire owned and trained by Valentin Zamudio, is the fastest qualifier to the May 11, $275,000 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity (G2).
At Los Alamitos Racecourse on Saturday, Beyond Repair won the first of eight 300-yard trials by one length in :15.681. Ruben Lozano rode the sorrel gelding, who was winning for the second time in as many outs and increasing his earnings to $7,870.
Beyond Repair was bred in California by Dr. Steve Burns, and he was a $26,000 yearling purchase at last year's Los Alamitos Equine Sale. The gelding is out of Sweetest Illusion, a winning daughter of champion Mr Jess Perry.
Keith W. Nellesen's Beuteeful posted the second-fastest qualifying time with her three-quarter length victory in the seventh heat. Ridden by Jose Nicasio for trainer Kristen Watanabe, the Utah-bred daughter of champion KVN Corona stopped the timer in :15.771 while earning her second win in as many races.
Beuteeful was bred by McColee Land and Livestock LLC.
