Ronald Lorin Moosman was born in Salt Lake City to Ray and Arvalee Moosman on June 14, 1957. Ron was the life of the party. His smile and laugh were contagious. He loved to talk horses with everyone. He ran a successful business, R/M Stables, for more than 45 years with his wife, Laurie. Ron loved all things racehorse, from breeding to foaling mares to running on the racetrack.
Ron's biggest joy was being with his family. They enjoyed racing horses, hunting the Boulder Mountains, and backyard barbecues. Ron's greatest blessing was being called "Papa Moose" by his three grandchildren.
Since Equibase began keeping Quarter Horse statistics in 1991, Ron saddled 516 winners and the earners of $2,570,583 from 2,879 Quarter Horse starters. A few of his top performers included graded stakes winners BF Lollypop, Lacey J Jr, Hoist Mission, Move With Ease, Furious Jess, Jr Corona Jazz, and Were Switching Moves.
Ron is survived by his wife, Laurie; children Haylee (Brady) Woodward and Riley Moosman (Kaycee Ferrin); grandchildren Ridge, Rhett, and Maclee Woodward; mother Arvalee Moosman; stepmother Shirley Moosman; siblings Trudy Lupus, Bryce (Kathy) Moosman, and Tina (Robbie) Conder; and sisters-in-law Lori Moosman and Edrinna Moosman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray L. Moosman; brothers Gary Moosman, Kay Moosman, and Shawn Moosman; and sisters Christina Moosman and Trina Moosman.
